Biography

Harold Perrineau is an American actor. Born on 7 August 1963 in Brooklyn, New York City, he studied music and theatre at Shenandoah Conservatory. He began his career as a dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater before moving into stage work, including a revival of Godspell.

Perrineau's screen breakthrough came with the role of Rashid Cole in the 1995 film Smoke, for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination. He played Mercutio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Augustus Hill in the HBO series Oz (1997–2003). Other notable roles include Link in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003), and Michael Dawson in Lost (2004–2010).

He has appeared in films such as 28 Weeks Later (2007) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and stars as Boyd Stevens in the series From (2022–present). Perrineau is married to former actress and model Brittany Perrineau.
