Biography
Jerome Bixby was an American writer of science fiction short stories and screenplays. He also wrote westerns and worked as an editor of science fiction magazines including Planet Stories.
Bixby wrote the 1953 short story 'It's a Good Life', which formed the basis of a 1961 episode of The Twilight Zone and a segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). He contributed four episodes to the original Star Trek series: 'Mirror, Mirror' (1967), 'By Any Other Name' (1968), 'Day of the Dove' (1968) and 'Requiem for Methuselah' (1969). With Otto Klement he co-wrote the story for Fantastic Voyage (1966) and wrote the screenplay for It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958). His final produced work was the screenplay for The Man from Earth (2007).
Bixby studied piano and composition at the Juilliard School of Music. He was born Drexel Jerome Lewis Bixby on 11 January 1923 in Los Angeles, California, and died on 28 April 1998 in San Bernardino, California.
