Biography
Marvin Hamlisch was an American composer and conductor. He studied at the Juilliard School from the age of seven and later graduated from Queens College in 1967.
Hamlisch composed scores for numerous films, including The Sting (1973), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Sophie's Choice (1982), Ordinary People (1980) and The Informant! (2009). His final film score was for Behind the Candelabra (2013). He also wrote the music for the Broadway musical A Chorus Line (1975).
Hamlisch won three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, four Emmy Awards and a Tony Award. He and Richard Rodgers are the only two people to have won those four awards plus a Pulitzer Prize.
