Biography
Michael I. Wagner (also credited as Michael Wagner) was an American television writer and producer. Born on 30 September 1947 in Ohio, he died on 23 April 1992 in Agoura Hills, California. He began his career in 1975 with a script for The Blue Knight and went on to write episodes of Kojak (1977) and contribute a story for The Rockford Files (1979).
Wagner's most extensive work was on Hill Street Blues, for which he wrote or co-wrote dozens of episodes between 1982 and 1987 and served as a story editor. His contributions to the series earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series in 1982. He also wrote for The Six Million Dollar Man, Man from Atlantis, Starsky & Hutch and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
In 1988 he co-created and produced the series Probe. He later contributed to Hooperman, Mann & Machine and the animated series Capitol Critters, which he helped develop.
