Biography
Michael P. Shawver is an American film editor. He studied at the University of Rhode Island, graduating in 2007, and completed an MFA at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2012.
Shawver met director Ryan Coogler while at USC and began editing his student films, including the short "Fig". Their collaboration has continued on feature films including Fruitvale Station (2013), Creed (2015), Black Panther (2018), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) and Sinners (2025). He has also edited A Quiet Place Part II (2020), Honest Thief (2020) and Abigail (2024).
Shawver received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing for Sinners.
