Biography

Nicholas Hooper is a British film and television composer and guitarist. He studied at the Royal College of Music in the early 1970s and has written scores for over 250 productions since the 1980s.

He is known for his long collaboration with director David Yates on projects including The Way We Live Now (2001), State of Play (2003), The Girl in the Café (2005) and the Harry Potter films Order of the Phoenix (2007) and Half-Blood Prince (2009). Hooper also scored Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006).

Hooper has received two BAFTA Awards for Best Original Television Music, for The Young Visiters (2003) and Prime Suspect: The Final Act (2006), as well as an Ivor Novello Award and a Grammy nomination.
