Biography

Owen McPolin is an Irish cinematographer and member of the Irish Society of Cinematographers. He began his career shooting drama for BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and has worked on international series including Vikings, Penny Dreadful and Shadow and Bone.

His early credits include serving as director of photography on episodes of the BBC series Little Dorrit (2008) and Doctor Who (2010–2011), starting with Matt Smith’s debut episode The Eleventh Hour. He later photographed episodes of the BBC series Time (2021) and Apple TV+ series Foundation (2021–).

McPolin, born in 1969, has received three IFTA nominations, a Gold Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival for the 2007 tele-film The Catalpa Rescue, and a BAFTA for his work on Da Vinci’s Demons.
