Biography
Remi Adefarasin is an English cinematographer. Born on 2 February 1948 in London, he studied photography and filmmaking at Harrow Technical College before beginning his career as a camera trainee at BBC-TV's Ealing Studios. He worked as an in-house cinematographer at the BBC from 1979 until 1995.
Adefarasin is known for his work on films including Elizabeth (1998), About a Boy (2002), Match Point (2005) and Johnny English (2003), and television series such as Band of Brothers (2001) and The Pacific (2010). For Elizabeth, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, becoming the first black person nominated in that category, as well as a BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2012 for services to television and film, and is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
