Biography

Rob Hardy is an English cinematographer. He was born in 1972 in Barking, London, and trained at Newport Film School and Northern Media School at Sheffield Hallam University.

Hardy frequently collaborates with director Alex Garland. Their work together includes Ex Machina (2015), Annihilation (2018), Devs (2020), Men (2022) and Civil War (2024). He also shot Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) and Supergirl (2026).

Earlier in his career, Hardy won a BAFTA for his work on John Crowley’s Boy A (2007). He is a member of the British Society of Cinematographers and the American Society of Cinematographers.
