Biography
Roy Walker (1931–2013) was a British production designer and art director. He began his career in the film industry at the age of 16 and worked for nearly five decades until 2001.
Walker is known for his production design on films including The Shining (1980), The Killing Fields (1984), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Eyes Wide Shut (1999) and The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999). Earlier credits include art direction on Barry Lyndon (1975) and assistant art director roles on Doctor Zhivago (1965) and Oliver! (1968). He collaborated frequently with directors Stanley Kubrick, David Lean and Roland Joffé.
He won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction for Barry Lyndon and a BAFTA Award for Best Production Design for The Killing Fields, and received further Oscar nominations for Yentl (1983) and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
