Biography
Stephen Thompson, also credited as Steve Thompson, is a British playwright and screenwriter. He studied at the University of Warwick and worked as a mathematics teacher for twelve years before turning to writing. His first play, Damages, premiered at the Bush Theatre in 2004, after which he became writer-in-residence there and had several further stage works produced.
Thompson's television career began with episodes of Doctors in 2005. He wrote for Sherlock from 2010, contributing episodes across its first three series in collaboration with Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. He also wrote three episodes of Doctor Who between 2011 and 2014. He created the series Jericho (2016) and Vienna Blood (2019–2024), and co-created Leonardo (2021).
