Biography

Tim Roth is an English actor and director. Born Timothy Simon Roth on 14 May 1961 in London, he first gained attention for television roles in Made in Britain (1982) and Meantime (1983). His film debut came in The Hit (1984), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Most Promising Newcomer.

Roth became known for his work with Quentin Tarantino, appearing as Mr. Orange / Freddy Newandyke in Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pumpkin in Pulp Fiction (1994), and Oswaldo Mobray in The Hateful Eight (2015). For his performance in Rob Roy (1995), he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. He made his directorial debut with The War Zone (1999).

Other credits include The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989), Vincent & Theo (1990), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990), Planet of the Apes (2001), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Selma (2014), and the series Lie to Me (2009–2011) and Tin Star (2017–2020). He has also voiced Emil Blonsky / Abomination in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
