Biography

Todd Black is an American film producer. Born on 9 February 1960 in Dallas, Texas, he studied at the University of Southern California. He began his career in the 1980s at Joe Wizan Productions and later formed partnerships that evolved into Escape Artists, which he co-founded with Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.

Black has produced numerous films, including The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), Seven Pounds (2008), The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009), The Equalizer (2014), Southpaw (2015), The Magnificent Seven (2016), Fences (2016) and The Equalizer 3 (2023). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture for Fences. His recent credits include The Piano Lesson (2024) and Masters of the Universe (2026).
