Biography

Vern Gillum is an American television director. He trained at the California School of Fine Arts and the Art Center School in Los Angeles before working in advertising, where he held creative roles at agencies including McCann Erickson and Carson Roberts/Ogilvy Mather. He later founded Vern Gillum & Friends Inc., producing and directing commercials and short subjects.

Gillum began directing episodic television in the late 1980s, with early credits including episodes of Miami Vice. His subsequent work includes episodes of ER (1994), Angel (1999–2004), Firefly (2002–2003), Prison Break (2005), Law & Order (1990), Walker, Texas Ranger (1993), Baywatch (1989), Miami Vice (1984), Dark Angel (2000) and Sliders (1995). He served as supervising producer on The Big Easy (1996–1997).
