Biography
Bill Paterson is a Scottish actor born on 3 June 1945 in Glasgow. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and began his professional career in 1967 at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre.
Paterson has appeared in numerous films and television series. His film credits include Truly, Madly, Deeply (1990) as Sandy, The Witches (1990) as Mr Jenkins and Chaplin (1992). On television he is known for roles in Outlander (2014) as Ned Gowan, Fleabag (2016–2019) as Dad, Good Omens (2019), House of the Dragon (2022) as Lord Lyman Beesbury and Doctor Who (2010). He has also worked extensively in radio drama and documentary narration. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish BAFTAs.
