Biography
David Giler (1943–2020) was an American film and television producer and screenwriter. He began his career writing for television series in the 1960s, including episodes of Kraft Suspense Theatre and The Man from U.N.C.L.E., before moving to feature screenplays such as The Parallax View (1974) and Fun with Dick and Jane (1977).
Giler co-founded Brandywine Productions with Walter Hill and Gordon Carroll. He produced Alien (1979) and returned for later entries in the franchise, including Aliens (1986, executive producer and story), Alien 3 (1992, producer and screenplay), Alien Resurrection (1997), Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017). He also produced films such as Southern Comfort (1981) and The Money Pit (1986, executive producer and screenplay), and served as executive producer on the television series Tales from the Crypt.
