Biography

Denise Cronenberg (1 October 1938 – 22 May 2020) was a Canadian costume designer. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was the elder sister of film director David Cronenberg. She trained in ballet and performed with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet before entering costume design.

Cronenberg collaborated with her brother on numerous films beginning with The Fly (1986), including Dead Ringers (1988), Naked Lunch (1991), Crash (1996), eXistenZ (1999), A History of Violence (2005), Eastern Promises (2007) and Maps to the Stars (2014). She also worked on other productions such as Dawn of the Dead (2004), The Incredible Hulk (2008) and Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010). She received six Genie Award nominations for costume design.

She died in Burlington, Ontario, at the age of 81.
