Biography
Don Zimmerman was an American film editor. He began his career in 1969 as an apprentice editor in music and sound effects, later becoming a picture assistant editor for Hal Ashby on films including The Landlord, Harold and Maude, Shampoo and Being There (1979). His first solo editing credit was Coming Home (1978), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing.
Zimmerman collaborated with Ashby on six films and went on to edit a wide range of features. His credits include Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Liar Liar (1997), the Night at the Museum films (2006 and 2009), Jumper (2008), Men in Black 3 (2012) and RED 2 (2013). He worked frequently with directors including Tom Shadyac, Dean Parisot and Shawn Levy. In 2023 he received the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award.
