Biography

Florian Ballhaus is a German cinematographer. Born in 1965 in Baden-Baden, he is the son of the cinematographer Michael Ballhaus.

He began his career in camera departments on films including GoodFellas (1990) and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), later working as a camera operator on Men in Black (1997). As director of photography his credits include Flightplan (2005), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Marley & Me (2008), The Time Traveler's Wife (2009), RED (2010), The Book Thief (2013), Insurgent (2015), Allegiant (2016), Marry Me (2022) and The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026). He has collaborated repeatedly with directors Robert Schwentke and David Frankel.
