Biography
George E. Stone, born Gerschon Lichtenstein, was a Polish-born American character actor. He appeared in films, radio and television from the silent era until the early 1960s, frequently in supporting roles as gangsters, informants or comic sidekicks.
Stone immigrated to the United States in 1913 and began in vaudeville and on Broadway before his screen debut in the 1927 silent film 7th Heaven. Notable film roles include Otero in Little Caesar (1931), Andy Lee in 42nd Street (1933), Society Max in Guys and Dolls (1955) and Toothpick Charlie in Some Like It Hot (1959). He played The Runt in the Boston Blackie film series and appeared as a court clerk in many episodes of the television series Perry Mason. He died in Woodland Hills, California, in 1967.
