Biography
Harry Cording (born Hector William Cording) was an English character actor. He was born on 26 April 1891 in Wellington, Somerset, and died on 1 September 1954 in Sun Valley, Los Angeles. He began appearing in Hollywood films in the mid-1920s and worked steadily through the 1950s, often in supporting roles as thugs, henchmen or policemen.
Cording is known for his performances as Dickon Malbete in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and as Thamal in The Black Cat (1934). Other credits include Captain Blood (1935), The Grapes of Wrath (1940) and East of Eden (1955). As a contract player at Universal Pictures, he appeared in several of the studio's horror films, including The Wolf Man (1941).
He also featured in multiple entries in the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes series, playing eight different characters across the films.
