Biography
Helen Raynor is a Welsh television screenwriter and script editor. Born in Swansea in March 1972, she studied at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, and worked for nearly a decade as a theatre director before moving into television.
She began as a script editor on the BBC soap Doctors (2002–2004) and joined the production of the revived Doctor Who (2005) as script editor, later writing the two-part stories "Daleks in Manhattan" / "Evolution of the Daleks" (2007) and "The Sontaran Stratagem" / "The Poison Sky" (2008). She also wrote episodes of its spin-off Torchwood (2006), including "Ghost Machine" (2006) and "To the Last Man" (2008).
Raynor co-created the BBC Wales drama series Baker Boys (2011) with her partner Gary Owen. Her other writing credits include episodes of Primeval (2007), Mr Selfridge (2013), Call the Midwife (2012), A Discovery of Witches (2018) and All Creatures Great & Small (2020).
