Biography
Hildur Guðnadóttir (born 4 September 1982) is an Icelandic composer and musician. A classically trained cellist, she studied at the Reykjavík Music Academy, the Iceland Academy of the Arts and the Berlin University of the Arts. She has performed and recorded with bands including Pan Sonic, Throbbing Gristle and múm, and has toured with Animal Collective and Sunn O))).
She is known for her film scores, including Joker (2019), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Original Score, the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and the BAFTA Award for Best Original Music; Chernobyl (2019), which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award and a Grammy Award; Women Talking (2022); TÁR (2022); A Haunting in Venice (2023); and Joker: Folie à Deux (2024). Her credits also include music for the forthcoming films The Bride! (2026) and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026).
