Biography
Joe Ranft (1960–2005) was an American screenwriter, storyboard artist, animator and voice actor. He joined Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1980 and contributed to the story on several films, including Beauty and the Beast (1991) and The Lion King (1994). He later moved to Pixar, where he served as story supervisor on Toy Story (1995) and other features.
Ranft provided the voice of Jacques in Finding Nemo (2003). He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Toy Story. He was co-director of Cars (2006), released after his death in a car accident. His younger brother Jerome Ranft is a sculptor who worked on several Pixar films.
