Biography
John Whelpley is a television writer and producer. He began his career writing for series including Trapper John, M.D. and Charlie's Angels in the 1970s and 1980s, later contributing episodes to MacGyver (1985) and serving as a producer on the show.
Whelpley wrote for Star Trek: The Next Generation, co-authoring the teleplay for the 1990 episode 'Suddenly Human' with Jeri Taylor. He pitched and co-wrote the story and teleplay for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 1993 episode 'Invasive Procedures' with Robert Hewitt Wolfe. He later wrote multiple episodes of Andromeda and Earth: Final Conflict.
His other credits include episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, The Outer Limits, Baywatch and Dallas. He has also written teleplays and screenplays for the Tremors film series, including Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001), Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015) and Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018).
