Biography
Jon Gries is an American actor and music video director. Born Jonathan Francis Gries on 17 June 1957 in Glendale, California, he is the son of writer, director and producer Tom Gries. His first film role was at the age of 11 as the Boy Horace in Will Penny (1968), which was written and directed by his father.
Gries is best known for his role as Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite (2004), for which he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Male. Other notable credits include Ronnie Wingate in Get Shorty (1995), the van driver in Men in Black (1997), Mark Casey in the Taken films (2008–2014), Roger Linus in Lost (2004–2010), Broots in The Pretender (1996–2000), and Greg Hunt in The White Lotus (2021–present). He has also appeared in Real Genius (1985) and The Monster Squad (1987).
