Biography

Barry Sonnenfeld is an American film director, producer and cinematographer. Born in New York City on 1 April 1953, he graduated from Hampshire College and New York University Film School in 1978.

He began his career as a cinematographer, working on films including the Coen brothers' Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987) and Miller's Crossing (1990), as well as When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and Misery (1990). Sonnenfeld made his directorial debut with The Addams Family (1991) and followed it with Addams Family Values (1993) and Get Shorty (1995). His later credits as director include the Men in Black trilogy (1997–2012), Wild Wild West (1999) and RV (2006).
