Biography

Kevin Norwood Bacon is an American actor. Born on 8 July 1958 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he began acting in the late 1970s. His early film roles include National Lampoon's Animal House (1978) and Diner (1982); his breakthrough came with the lead in the musical drama Footloose (1984).

Bacon has appeared in numerous films across genres, including JFK (1991), A Few Good Men (1992), Apollo 13 (1995), Mystic River (2003), Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) and X-Men: First Class (2011). On television he received a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the HBO film Taking Chance (2009). He starred in the series The Following (2013–2015) and City on a Hill (2019–2022).

His more recent credits include Leave the World Behind (2023) and MaXXXine (2024). Bacon is married to actress Kyra Sedgwick; their daughter Sosie Bacon is also an actor.
