Biography
Mark Mancina is an American film composer. Born on 9 March 1957 in Santa Monica, California, he studied classical guitar and composition at California State University, Fullerton. He began his career in the late 1980s and has scored more than sixty films and television series.
A veteran of Hans Zimmer's Media Ventures, Mancina is known for scores including Speed (1994), Bad Boys (1995), Twister (1996), Tarzan (1999), Training Day (2001), Brother Bear (2003) and Moana (2016). He has collaborated frequently with Disney and scored recent films such as The Sea Beast (2022), Juror #2 (2024) and Moana 2 (2024).
Mancina has won Grammy Awards for his work on The Lion King and Tarzan, and received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Score in a Musical for the stage adaptation of The Lion King.
