Biography
Melanie Ann Oliver is a New Zealand film editor. She began her career as an assistant editor on Jane Campion's An Angel at My Table (1990) and The Portrait of a Lady (1996). After relocating to England, she edited shorts including Joe Wright's Crocodile Snap (1997) and moved into television and feature work.
Oliver has maintained a long collaboration with director Tom Hooper, editing the miniseries Elizabeth I (2005) and John Adams (2008), the television film Longford (2006), and feature films including Les Misérables (2012), The Danish Girl (2015), Victoria & Abdul (2017) and Cats (2019). Her other credits include Anna Karenina (2012), Jane Eyre (2011), Pride (2014), Bridget Jones's Baby (2016), Judy (2019) and Wicked Little Letters (2023). She won a BAFTA Television Craft Award for Longford and received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Elizabeth I and John Adams.
