Biography

Michael Bonvillain is an American cinematographer and member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 2004. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi.

He trained at the University of Texas at Austin. His credits include the films Cloverfield (2008), Zombieland (2009), Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) and American Ultra (2015), as well as episodes of the television series Lost (2004–2007) and Peacemaker (2022).

Bonvillain won a Primetime Emmy Award for outstanding cinematography for a single-camera series for work on Alias (2002) and received further Emmy nominations for Alias and Lost.
