Biography

Paul Rubell is an American film editor. He was born on 6 September 1952 in Los Angeles and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of California, Los Angeles.

He began his career as an apprentice and assistant editor, working with Lou Lombardo. His first editing credit was on the film The Final Terror (1983). After about ten years on low-budget films and television, he returned to feature films as editor of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996).

Rubell is known for his work on the Transformers films (2007, 2009, 2014), Thor (2011), The Fate of the Furious (2017) and Bumblebee (2018). He has also edited Blade (1998), Hancock (2008) and Masters of the Universe (2026). He is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has received Academy Award nominations for The Insider (1999) and Collateral (2004).
