Biography

Peter Allan Fields (1935–2019) was an American screenwriter and television producer. He began his career as a lawyer before transitioning to writing, starting with episodes of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in the mid-1960s.

Over three decades he contributed scripts to series including Columbo (1971), McCloud, The Six Million Dollar Man (1974), Knight Rider (1982), Xena: Warrior Princess (1995) and Man from Atlantis (1977). He wrote three episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), including "The Inner Light", and ten of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), such as "Duet" and "In the Pale Moonlight", and served as co-producer and producer on the latter's first two seasons. He received a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.
