Biography
Peter Wight is a British actor, born in 1950 in Worthing, Sussex. He grew up in Duffield, Derbyshire, attended the University of Oxford, and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
He is known for his collaborations with director Mike Leigh, appearing in Meantime (1983), Naked (1993) as Brian, Vera Drake (2004), Another Year (2010) and Mr. Turner (2014). Other film roles include Mr Gardiner in Pride & Prejudice (2005), Roy Porter in Hot Fuzz (2007), and appearances in Atonement (2007) and Babel (2006). On television he played Policeman Nige in the BBC sitcom Early Doors (2003–2004) and has appeared in The Crown (2016).
Wight has an extensive stage career, with productions at the Royal National Theatre, the Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
