Biography
Philip Davis is an English actor, director, writer and narrator. Born on 30 July 1953 in Highgate, London, he was a member of the National Youth Theatre and worked with Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop early in his career.
As an actor he is known for roles in Quadrophenia (1979), The Bounty (1984), High Hopes (1988), In the Name of the Father (1993), Vera Drake (2004), Sherlock (2010) and Mr. Holmes (2015). He has also directed episodes of Prime Suspect and other series, with early directing work including the award-winning short Life’s a Gas (1992) and the feature I.D. (1995). He has been married to actress Eve Matheson since 2002.
