Biography

Richard Riehle is an American character actor. Born on 12 May 1948 in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, he studied at the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a BA in 1970, and later earned an MFA from the University of Minnesota.

Riehle began his career in regional and repertory theatre before making his Broadway debut in 1986 in Execution of Justice. He has appeared in numerous stage productions, including the 1999 revival of The Iceman Cometh.

He is known for his film roles including Tom Smykowski in Office Space (1999), as well as appearances in The Fugitive (1993), Casino (1995), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) and Bridesmaids (2011). On television he has had recurring roles in series such as Grounded for Life (2001–2005) and guest appearances across the Star Trek franchise.
