Biography
Ted Moore (7 August 1914 – 1 July 1987) was a South African-British cinematographer. Born in Benoni, Gauteng, he moved to Britain at the age of sixteen and served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War as a cameraman in the Pinewood Military Film Unit.
He worked as a camera operator on several films before becoming a director of photography. Moore photographed seven James Bond films: Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Live and Let Die (1973), and portions of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). He also served as cinematographer on A Man for All Seasons (1966), Clash of the Titans (1981) and other features.
Moore won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for A Man for All Seasons and BAFTA Awards for Best Cinematography for that film and From Russia with Love. He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
