Biography
Tom Benko is an American editor, writer and director who has worked extensively in television. He is credited as editor on numerous episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1992), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1994) and Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001). He also wrote the stories for the Deep Space Nine episodes "The House of Quark" (1994) and "Return to Grace" (1996).
Benko directed two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation: "Transfigurations" (1990) and "Devil's Due" (1991). He is the only individual to have written, directed and edited episodes within the Star Trek franchise. His other editing credits include episodes of MacGyver (1985) and earlier work on series such as Police Squad! (1982) and The Fall Guy (1981). He began his career in the industry with assistant editing and second-unit directing roles on shows including Battlestar Galactica (1978).
