Biography
Trevor Jones is a South African composer of film and television scores, who has worked primarily in the United Kingdom. Born on 23 March 1949 in Cape Town, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London from the age of 17 and later at the University of York. He was the first composer to attend the National Film and Television School in England.
Jones is credited with the music for The Last of the Mohicans (1992), In the Name of the Father (1993) and Brassed Off (1996). His other film scores include Labyrinth (1986), Mississippi Burning (1988), Notting Hill (1999) and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003).
He has received BAFTA nominations for Best Film Music for Mississippi Burning, The Last of the Mohicans and Brassed Off. Jones became a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 2006 and was the first chair of the music department at the National Film and Television School in 1999.
