Biography

Tyler Bates is an American composer, musician and producer of film, television and video game scores. Born on 5 June 1965 in Los Angeles, he has worked extensively in the action and horror genres.

He is best known for his scores for the John Wick franchise, composed with Joel J. Richard, including John Wick (2014), John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023). Other notable credits include 300 (2007), Watchmen (2009), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and its sequel (2017), Deadpool 2 (2018), Pearl (2022), MaXXXine (2024) and the forthcoming Ballerina (2025). He has collaborated repeatedly with directors Zack Snyder, James Gunn, Ti West and Chad Stahelski.

Bates is a former lead guitarist for Marilyn Manson and has produced albums for the band. He also works as a touring and studio musician with Jerry Cantrell.
