Biography
Alan Hume (16 October 1924 – 13 July 2010) was an English cinematographer. He began his career as a clapper boy at Denham Studios in 1942 and worked as a camera operator on films including Great Expectations (1946) before serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He became director of photography on many Carry On films, starting with Carry On Regardless (1961).
Hume was director of photography on three James Bond films directed by John Glen: For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View to a Kill (1985). Other credits include Return of the Jedi (1983), Supergirl (1984), Lifeforce (1985), Runaway Train (1985) and A Fish Called Wanda (1988). He was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers.
