Biography
Alik Sakharov is a Soviet-born American director and former cinematographer. Born on 17 May 1959 in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, USSR, he moved to the United States in 1981. He began his career in the 1980s shooting industrial videos, music videos and commercials before progressing to feature films and television.
Sakharov served as director of photography on HBO's The Sopranos (1999–2007), contributing to 38 episodes. He later directed episodes of series including Game of Thrones (2012–2014), House of Cards (2017–2018), Ozark (2018–2022) and The Witcher (2019). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series for the Rome episode "Passover" (2007).
