Biography
Christopher Newman is a producer and second unit director. Born on 25 April 1955 in Tripoli, Lebanon, he began his career as an assistant director on feature films including Return of the Jedi (1983), Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Notting Hill (1999), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Love Actually (2003), Match Point (2005) and Mamma Mia! (2008).
He later moved into producing, serving as line producer, co-producer and producer on Game of Thrones (2011–2019), for which he received four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series. He also directed second unit on the series and has produced on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022). Newman is credited as Chris Newman on many projects.
