Biography
David Arnold is an English film composer. He was born on 23 January 1962 in Luton, England. While at sixth form college in Luton he became friends with director Danny Cannon and began writing music for short films; their first feature collaboration was The Young Americans (1993).
Arnold is known for his scores for Independence Day (1996), Stargate (1994), Godzilla (1998), five James Bond films including Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008), Hot Fuzz (2007) and the television series Sherlock (2010). For the score of Independence Day he received a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television. With co-composer Michael Price he won a Creative Arts Emmy for the Sherlock episode "His Last Vow".
