Biography
Debra McGuire is an American costume designer whose credits include the television series Freaks and Geeks (1999) and Friends (1994–2004). She has also designed costumes for films such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), Superbad (2007), Knocked Up (2007), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Ted (2012), Game Night (2018) and the Sonic the Hedgehog films (2020, 2022).
McGuire began her career in the arts as a painter and jewellery designer before moving into wardrobe work on television movies. She received Emmy nominations for her work on Friends and later projects including The Starter Wife (2007) and Phil Spector (2013), as well as Costume Designers Guild Award nominations. She has collaborated frequently with directors including Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan, and continues to work on series such as The Morning Show.
Her theatre credits include productions at the Geffen Playhouse. In 2026 she published the book Dressing the Story: The Art of Costume Design.
