Biography
Grant Major is a New Zealand production designer. Born in Palmerston North in 1955, he began his career in set design at Television New Zealand and the BBC before moving into feature films.
He is best known for his work on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, for which he shared an Academy Award for Best Art Direction on The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). Other credits include King Kong (2005), The Power of the Dog (2021), Mulan (2020) and The Meg (2018). He received the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2004 for services to film.
