Biography

Michael Wilkinson is an Australian costume designer. Born in Sydney on 1 October 1970, he trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and began his career as an assistant on films including Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet and The Matrix (1999).

He is known for his long collaboration with director Zack Snyder, designing costumes for 300 (2007), Watchmen (2009), Man of Steel (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). Other credits include American Hustle (2013), Aladdin (2019) and the television series Andor (2022–2025).

Wilkinson received an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design for American Hustle. His work on Andor earned a Creative Arts Emmy Award and Costume Designers Guild Awards.
