Biography
Mike Hill was an American film editor. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on 24 March 1949 and died there on 5 January 2023.
Hill formed a long-term editing partnership with Daniel P. Hanley. Together they edited all of director Ron Howard's feature films from Night Shift (1982) to In the Heart of the Sea (2015), a total of 22 films. Their work on Apollo 13 (1995) earned them an Academy Award for Best Film Editing. They also received an Academy Award nomination for A Beautiful Mind (2001) and won a BAFTA Award for Rush (2013).
Hill began his career as an assistant editor at a local television station in Omaha before moving to Hollywood, where he worked as an apprentice on Bound for Glory (1976).
