Biography
Mindy Kaling, born Vera Mindy Chokalingam, is an American actress, writer and director. She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2001 with a degree in playwriting. After performing in the play Matt & Ben in New York, she was hired as a writer on the NBC series The Office in 2004.
Kaling portrayed Kelly Kapoor on The Office (2005–2013) and wrote 24 episodes of the series, more than any other staff writer. She directed several episodes, including her television directorial debut with the season six episode 'Body Language'. She later created, wrote, produced and starred in the sitcom The Mindy Project (2012–2017).
