Biography
Oliver Wallace (6 August 1887 – 15 September 1963) was a British-American composer and conductor. Born in London, he emigrated to the United States in 1904 and became a US citizen in 1914. He worked as a theatre orchestra conductor and silent-film organist before joining Walt Disney Studios in 1936.
Wallace composed or co-composed scores for numerous Disney animated features and shorts. His credits include Dumbo (1941), for which he shared an Academy Award with Frank Churchill; Cinderella (1950); Alice in Wonderland (1951); Peter Pan (1953); and Lady and the Tramp (1955). He also contributed to live-action films such as Old Yeller (1957) and documentaries in the True-Life Adventures series. Wallace was posthumously named a Disney Legend in 2008.
